I have several way in which I want to improve as a person here at the GSB. Some are trivial, some are individualistic, and some are both (improving my poker skills, my three point shot, and my golf game respectively). Some involve the workplace and some involve my relationships (improving my ability to project credibility and my ability to read the emotions of those in the room).
While my goals are numerous, I understand the value of focus. With this in mind, I have one specific way in which I hope to improve in this class - learning (hopefully through practice) about how to respond to pointed questioning.
I rarely have difficulty speaking with confidence when I have thought ahead of time about what I am going to say. Where my communication skills breakdown is when I have to respond to tough questioning. In the past I've stuttered and stumbled through conversations when asked difficult questions or when forced to defend what I had assumed were safe assumptions. I hope to be able to practice this during a role play at some point in class.
Honing your poker and golf skills should be easy at the GSB. Best way to improve upon difficult discussions /conversations is practice!
